What Is an Automated Trading System?

Automated trading systems, which are also known as mechanical trading systems, algorithmic trading, automated trading or system trading, are computer programs that can be programmed to buy and sell stocks based on specific rules. These programs can automatically execute trades, which means traders don't have to do it manually.
